Citizen-centric, responsive government
I will listen to the community, always seeking input from residents on issues. I will approach all issues objectively by studying the details and seeking community input.
I will strive to find solutions that the community can embrace. I will work with all members of the council to do what is best for Oro Valley's residents, not what special interests tell me to do.
Fiscal Responsibility
I won't ever ask you for more money in the form of tax increases until I have cut every possible instance of excess spending. I know that right now, many of Oro Valley's residents are squeezed financially by the high cost of transportation, healthcare, and county, state, and federal taxes. I know that effective financial planning will allow Oro Valley to prosper without tax increases.
Local, Sustainable Economic Development
I know that unique businesses willing to adhere to our high standards in zoning and design would make Oro Valley a destination. I will be a strong voice on the council for attracting these kinds of businesses. My experience on the Development Review Board will allow me to work with the business community to make sure that businesses can prosper.
I will be the leading advocate on the council for greater choice in both employment and recreational opportunities. As we look towards employment build-out, I will fight for a diversified job base so that Oro Valley's young people can afford to raise their families here.
I support the responsible use of incentives to attract sustainable businesses to Oro Valley, but only if they benefit the entire community. I know that Oro Valley's residents want unique and varied retail and employment choices and I will lead the effort to bring them to Oro Valley.
I oppose tax subsidies to large, out-of-town corporations at the expense of taxpayers and locally-owned businesses. I'm following with interest the Goldwater Institute's case at the Arizona Supreme Court regarding the constituionality of such subsidies.
I am seeking endorsement only from the voters of Oro Valley, and not from any special interest groups. I have the knowledge and experience to lead. The incumbent mayor's appetite for big government, culminating in his call for a new property tax, has left the residents of Oro Valley with an uncertain future. Only through a united effort, with a mayor that will work with the complete council and town staff, can we navigate the future successfully. I intend to provide that leadership.
